Kinsler to Detroit; What does it mean for Brandon Phillips?

Recent MLB moves could affect Reds, Brandon Phillips

If Brandon Phillips was upset with Red's ownership last year, I can only wonder what he is waiting to spill to the Cincinnati media. Last year, Phillips infamously made public jabs at Red's owner, Walt Jocketty. Phillips essentially called Jocketty a liar. In a move that would leave most of us packing up our desk, Phillips may be loading up his multiple Gold Gloves on his way out of Cincinnati.

The Red's front office didn't take too kind Phillips' comments. Soon after the season concluded, Phillips was included in trade talks. Detroit was thought of as a possible landing place for Phillips before acquiring Ian Kinsler in exchange for Prince Fielder.

Another landing place for Phillips may be New York. If the Yankees are not able to re-sign Robinson Cano, they may be interested in working out a deal to bring in Phillips. The Reds clearly want to move Phillips, but may be forced to keep him. Not too many teams seem willing to pick up Phillips' contract in exchange for top young talent.
